There are some purist anglers who will only use the fly, as their way of pursuing their chosen quarry. 

 

Those that do go fly fishing, tend not to carry too much tackle with them as they are nearly always roaming the waters edge looking out for their quarry.

If you can spare the cash, you might want the 'top of the range', 'top name' Fly Fishing Reel hanging below your wrist when you are landing your dream fish. 

 

Of course, you might just want a Fly Reel that does the job it has been made for, without you having to max out your card to own it. 

 

When assessing a Fly Reel for your own use, it is all really about balance, the balance between the fly rod, the fly reel and your hand and arm. 

 

The better the balance between these four, the longer you will be able to fish for, without becoming too tired to carry on fishing. 

 

Only you will know if the balance is correct, as one Fly Reel which suits one person is rejected by somebody else, because they 'don't like it'. 

 

It could be the best money can buy but it is just not what they are looking for.
